Steak & Cheese Baguette
Serves 2-4 people | Prep time: 15 minutes | Cook time: 10 minutesIngredientsFor the Sandwich:
  • 1 large fresh baguette (or 2 smaller baguette rolls)
  • 450g eye Fillet or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 180g Marsh Extra Tasty Cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chimmi Churri 

Prepare the Sandwich:
  1. Prep bread: Slice baguette lengthwise, leaving one side attached like a hinge. Lightly toast if desired.
  2. Cook steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season steak slices with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side for medium doneness. Remove and rest.
  3. Cook onions (optional): In the same pan, cook sliced onions until golden and caramelized, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Assemble: Spread chimichurri generously on both sides of the baguette. Layer with cooked steak, Marsh Extra Tasty Cheddar slices, and onions if using.
  5. Melt cheese: Place assembled sandwich under grill for 1-2 minutes until cheese melts, or wrap in foil and warm in 180°C oven for 5 minutes.
  6. Serve: Cut into portions and serve immediately while hot.
